Energy Consultant/Analyst

nFront Consulting is seeking a talented and driven consultant/analyst to work within project teams on a wide range of assignments supporting planning, economic, and financial analyses for our energy industry clients. The person in this role will develop and utilize sophisticated analysis tools and models, research and develop critical assumptions, and contribute to reports and presentations to our clients. This role will involve working on solutions to some of the most important energy-related challenges of the day.

We also support our clients in the areas of planning, implementing, and managing resources, performing technical and economic evaluations of potential assets and programs and formulation of strategies to meet future resource and regulatory requirements.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements include the following:

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• High standards of professionalism and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team

Preferred applicants will be able to demonstrate all or portions of the following experience.

• Work experience in management consulting or an analytical role in the energy industry
• Previous experience with electric utility resource planning and proficiency with industry-standard generation dispatch simulation and resource expansion planning models
  
• Experience developing financial models, including discounted cash flow and levelized cost analyses
• Advanced capabilities with developing Microsoft Excel-based spreadsheet tools and models, including manipulation and analysis of large datasets, Visual Basic programming, and user interfaces
• Experience using Python, R, C#, Visual Basic, or other programming language to perform data analysis and develop models
• Familiarity with utility-scale fossil-fueled and renewable generation and distributed generation technologies
• Familiarity with utility demand-side management / energy efficiency programs and experience performing associated cost-benefit analyses
• Previous work experience and/or education in applied statistics, data analytics, or related field
• Strong research and analytical skills, including use of public and licensed utility industry databases

LOCATION

Applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to provide space for a full-time, professional remote office with a high-speed internet connection. Occasional travel to client sites and for internal business purposes may be required.
